Free Workshop for National Drawing Day/Biodiversity Week

Our St Patrick’s weekend art workshops went down a treat, with one resounding piece of feedback — you wanted MORE!

Attendees were emphatic in their cries for more creative activities to be available for people of all ages in Waterford. They spoke about a desire for slow, mindful activity as an alternative option to quick-paced and noisy socialising.

We were delighted when Waterford City and County Council’s new Biodiversity Officer, Marina Mulligan, came to us with an idea that fit this brief perfectly. Marina pointed out that National Drawing Day happens to fall during National Biodiversity Week this year, and wondered about whether we could mark these two fabulous initiatives with one celebratory workshop. We got straight onto our pals in Waterford Gallery of Art, who set the wheels in motion for a gorgeous nature-inspired offering.

The gallery will be hosting a free brush-making and drawing workshop on Saturday 18th May from 11am – 1pm. The twist? You’ll be using only natural materials, foraged directly from our local landscape!

This offering is open to all ages, but you need to get in quickly to guarantee your spot. Simply email waterfordgallery@waterfordcouncil.ie and let them know you’re interested in attending.

Wishing you a very fruitful (if you’ll excuse the pun) Biodiversity Week and a splendid National Drawing Day!
