Murals for Connection was a collaborative arts project by the students of three schools, Gaelscoil Phort Láirge, St. Mary’s National School and Gaelcholáiste Phort Láirge. Over 1000 children attend school within 400m radius of the GAA park in Ballygunner, and as part the Cruinniú na nÓg 2022 festival, Creative Ireland Waterford worked with some of these children to develop a concept for a Street Art Mural for the ball alley of the Ballygunner GAA club.

Each student was invited to submit a piece of art that was fed into the overall concept for this community mural. Once the artwork was submitted by the students, smaller focus groups of children were appointed from the three schools. These focus groups worked with local mural artist Caoilfhionn Hanton to develop the concept further and in turn produce a Mural that was unveiled on the 11th of June for the children’s festival Cruinniú na nÓg.
